Eagle-eyed readers will remember that there was a typo in the year of the first newsletter—oops! It has been fixed in the archive.

…sound the NEW APPS claxon!

🎉

2UP

This is my Mac-Assed dual-pane file manager that works more like "Twin Finder". I use it every day and it makes managing files a pleasure. It strives to bring the Mac experience to the dual-pane file manager world.

It has been finished for ages, after 105(!) TestFlight builds, and took about a month of back-and-forth with App Store review to get it approved. I was asked to remove the words "Finder" and "Mac" from the app’s store page metadata, and was also asked if files are sent to my server…when the app had no network entitlements/permission.

LAUNCH SALE: until 14th September 2026!

AMIGA GUIDE

I’ve released a little app for macOS that adds support for Amiga Guide documents. It’s a viewer, provides Quick Look and Thumbnails support (works great in 2UP!), and also allows you to export the guide as HTML or EPUB.

FREE DOWNLOAD: pass it on to all your Amiga amigos.

SNES DEV GAME JAM

I’m continuing with a game called SUPER WILD CART for SNES DEV Game Jam 2026, which is running August through October. It’s kinda Excite Truck Ă— Flicky Ă— Donkey Kong’s Crash Course, but it might look more like Uniracers or Excite Bike to you.

The interesting thing about the toolchain used for this game: I wrote the game in Lua/Love2D with a small library of 8-bit maths functions, then transpiled it to C and hooked it up with a SNES SDK. Yet with only a little massaging that runs quick enough on SNES! What a time to be alive. Thank you llvm-mos!

I recently bought a Super Famicom, still in box, smelling of old cigarette smoke, but astonishingly…it’s still grey!

BELTRUNNER

My game from GMTKjam 2026 continues to be released on more platforms. A partial engine rewrite from Swift to C means the Dreamcast build now runs at 60fps, which I then rolled into all other platforms for hugely smaller and more performant binaries. The engine rewrite continues with all the parts that were not needed to ship BELTRUNNER.

JINKS

Work continues on Jinks, with around three quarters of my work time dedicated to it. It already does things other engines cannot, and it already targets platforms they cannot: one core running identically on Web, Mac, Windows, Linux, Wii, Dreamcast, and one I haven’t announced yet. BIG plans!

SPINDLE

This is my multi-drive optical disc dumper. Close to release, I just need to put some time aside to give it a final session and write some App Store copy.
